The Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly crash that occurred on Mt. Rose Highway near the summit last month.

According to NHP, the crash happened just before 9 a.m. near Washoe mile marker eight, on November 16th.

Troopers say a 2010 Subaru Outback was heading west on the highway when the driver, who was going too fast for the snowy and icy conditions, lost control. The Subaru began to turn clockwise and crossed into the eastbound lane.

A 2021 Chevrolet Suburban traveling eastbound, struck the side of the Subaru as it slid into oncoming traffic.

The driver of the Subaru, 51-year-old Sanchez Soto of Reno, died on scene.

The Nevada Highway Patrol Major Incident Reconstruction Team is continuing to investigate the crash.
