Fire crews are currently fighting several wildfires across Elko County.
Chimney Fire — North of Midas
The fire is approximately 15 miles north of Midas and is estimated at 12,000 acres.
Secret Pass Fire — Starr Valley Area
The fire is estimated at 4,500 acres. Additional resources from outside the area are arriving and working alongside local crews.
Hoppie Basin Fire — Montello Area
The fire remains approximately 304 acres. Crews anticipate establishing containment this afternoon or evening.
Long Canyon Fire — South of Long Canyon Mine
This new fire is approximately 100 acres.
Boyd Fire — Burner Basin
The fire is approximately 123 acres. Crews hope to fully secure the fire within the next one to two days.
The Governor has mobilized two Nevada National Guard helicopters to assist with firefighting operations in the area.
