Dry Canyon Fire

Firefighters are responding to new wildfires in eastern Nevada.

The Dry Canyon and Parsnip Peak fires sparked Friday near the site of the ongoing Kane Springs and Grapevine Fires in Lincoln County.

The Dry Canyon Fire is about 14 miles east of Pioche and is estimated to have burned 1,500 acres.

The Parsnip Peak Fire is 18 miles northwest of Pioche and has burned an estimated 300 acres. Both Fires are currently 0% contained. 

According to the Bureau of Land Management, both fires are exhibiting extreme fire behavior, including wind-driven runs, spotting, and crowning.

Forecast winds are expected to push both fires north, with the Parsnip Peak Fire also spreading east.Â
