Moana Lane area fire

UPDATE - October 1:

Investigators are looking into what caused a fire Wednesday night at a newly built apartment complex on East Moana Lane in Reno.

The fire was reported around 10:08 p.m. at 1130 E. Moana Lane, according to Reno Fire, a five-story complex.

Upon arriving firefighters found smoke and an activated sprinkler system on the third floor.

The first engine arrived on the scene within  four minutes after the call. Reno Fire says that firefighters had the fire knocked down and the sprinkler system shut off within five minutes of arriving.

The fire itself was contained quickly, but water from the sprinkler system affected six units. Reno Fire says it worked with the person responsible for the complex to make sure residents had somewhere else to stay for the night. Most, if not all, stayed at the complex.

An arson investigator also responded, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

No one was injured.

Reno Fire had 32 personnel at the scene, including four engines, two trucks, two squads, a safety officer and two battalion chiefs.
