Bryan Samudio

Former KRNV & KOLO sports anchor Bryan Samudio has passed away.

Local viewers will remember him as a long-time sports reporter and anchor at KOLO before becoming sports director there. Later, he left to work in sports television in Las Vegas, before returning to Reno for the sports director position at KRNV. He helped turn their sports department into Nevada Sports Net where he hosted and anchored for many years.

Samudio was also inducted into the Nevada Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame.

More recently, Samudio worked for the Washoe County Sheriff's Office as a public information officer, from 2022 to 2023.

Samudio was 52.

“Bryan was a kind, thoughtful and quick-witted team player,” said Sheriff Balaam. “He brought his passion, drive and expertise to the Office during a time of challenge and change. His passion for telling our deputies’ and civilians’ stories made them feel valued and heard. His vitality shined through whether he was drafting a press release on a high-profile case or interviewing responders replacing a child’s bike after it was stolen. His enthusiasm showcased the values our Office is built upon, because Bryan also encapsulated them. We will miss you, Bryan.”
