A team of Northern Nevada Public Health (NNPH) and the Rural Community Assistance Corporation (RCAC) is hosting free community events this week.
The events are targeted at people who need information and resources regarding domestic wells and septic systems.
Two workshops will be held this week and are designed to help locals understand, maintain and protect their private water and wastewater systems, and also to provide resources and assistance.
Organizers say the trainings will be available in Spanish and other languages as well.
The first event, taking place on Wednesday, April 23 at 5:30 p.m. is titled, "You Own A Private Well, Now What? Protecting Your Home's Water Source." The workshop covers the basics of domestic well ownership. NNPH and RCAC staff will be on hand to share information and resources for well owners.
The second event is focused on septic systems and is named, "How to Manage Your Septic System - Maintenance, Protection and Resources," and is happening on Thursday, April 24 at 5:30 p.m. This workshop focuses on septic system upkeep, as well as public health and environmental considerations.
Both events take place at Northern Nevada Public Health, located at 1001 East Ninth Street, Building B in Reno.
