Nearly $60,000 in scholarships will be awarded to 49 people pursuing education and training in aviation, drones, and aerospace in northern Nevada.
The George W. Gillemot Foundation, in partnership with Pathways to Aviation, is awarding 39 scholarships of $1,000 each and 10 scholarships of $2,000 each.
The scholarships can be used for opportunities including flight training and pilot certification, airframe and powerplant certification, aviation management degrees, instrument ratings, and aviation mechanics programs.
Representatives from the Gillemot Foundation, Pathways to Aviation and the Washoe County School District will recognize the scholarship recipients at an awards ceremony.
The foundation's mission is to spark curiosity among northern Nevada's youth in aviation, drones, and aerospace education. The scholarships are intended to support students as they pursue certifications, degrees and other training in those fields.
