Greater Nevada Credit Union (GNCU) today begins operating as Greater Nevada Credit Union: A division of America First, following the merger announced by the two credit unions on Aug. 24. The combination brings together two member-owned credit unions with a shared commitment to financial well-being and strong communities.
The merger was approved by each credit union’s boards of directors, the National Credit Union Administration, and the Nevada Financial Institutions Division.
For Greater Nevada members, day-to-day banking remains unchanged. All Greater Nevada branches will remain open, and all GNCU employees have been retained. Members should continue using their existing GNCU checks, debit and credit cards, ATMs and online and mobile banking. All Greater Nevada locations will also maintain their current hours of operation, phone numbers, email addresses and website.
“Today marks an important milestone as we welcome Greater Nevada members and employees to America First,” said Thayne Shaffer, president and CEO of America First Credit Union. “Greater Nevada has built deep relationships with its members and communities over more than 75 years. We look forward to building on that legacy while creating even more opportunities to help members achieve their financial goals.”
Operating as a division of America First allows Greater Nevada to maintain its local identity and community relationships while giving members access to the resources and capabilities of a larger credit union. Together, the organization will serve more than 1.6 million members through 135 locations across six states, including an expanded network throughout Nevada.
“Greater Nevada has always been focused on helping people Live Greater, and that commitment isn’t changing,” said Danny DeLaRosa, president and CEO of Greater Nevada Credit Union. “Joining America First gives us the opportunity to build on what our team has created, while bringing even more resources and opportunities to our members and the communities we call home.”
