Highway 50 Wagon Train 1

The 77th annual Highway 50 Wagon Train traveled through South Lake Tahoe Sunday.

The tradition started in 1949 to mark the 100th anniversary of the gold rush on Highway 50.

South Lake Tahoe Police in a post on Facebook say they had the honor of providing escort and traffic controls for the wagon train.

SLT Police escort the wagon train from Round Hill into California and through the city limits.  From there the California Highway Patrol takes over as the Wagon train makes its way over Echo Summit to Placerville.
