Authorities are investigating a collision between a car and horse on U.S. 95-A south of Fernley early Thursday morning.
Firefighters arrived on scene just before 6:15 a.m. to find a heavily damaged SUV off the roadway.
Due to the debris in the roadway, both directions of travel were temporarily blocked while emergency personnel worked the scene.
Authorities say everyone inside the car refused medical attention.
The Nevada Highway Patrol and Nevada Department of Transportation were requested to assist with traffic control, investigation, and roadway cleanup.
There's no immediate word on if the horse was injured.
"As we move into the fall months and daylight hours become shorter, motorists are reminded to use extra caution during the early morning and evening hours. Livestock and wildlife can be difficult to see in low-light conditions, particularly on rural highways," North Lyon Fire says on Facebook.
