Jacobs youth soccer tournament 1

Jacobs Entertainment and Reno Apex Soccer Club are celebrating their first downtown soccer tournament Saturday.

It's the first tournament on the newly completed fields in Reno's Neon Line District.

Jacobs Entertainment says the tournament represents the first major activation of the Downtown Reno Amateur Sports Association.

“This weekend is a watershed moment not only for youth sports in Northern Nevada, but for the continued transformation of downtown Reno,” said Jeff Jacobs, chief executive officer of Jacobs Entertainment. “These fields were created to bring families, athletes and visitors together while continuing to build Reno into a true live, work and play destination. Seeing these fields filled with kids, families and teams from across the region is exactly the vision we hoped to create.”

Jacobs Entertainment says the grand opening weekend is expected to draw hundreds of athletes, coaches and family members to Reno.
