Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Franco Baking Company, a Northern Nevada bakery owned and operated by Roundabout Catering Group, is introducing its newest loaf, a cinnamon swirl French toast bread designed to bring extra warmth and indulgence to the breakfast table.
The new loaf arrives in select Northern Nevada Raley’s locations in February, with an official launch on Valentine’s Day.
Baked fresh and locally in Sparks, the brioche-style bread is made with real butter, eggs, real cinnamon, and cinnamon chips. Each slice features a consistent cinnamon swirl, offering uniform flavor and appearance.
“We wanted this bread to feel special but still familiar,” said MaryBeth Smith, owner of Franco Baking Company and Roundabout Catering Group. “Valentine’s Day felt like the perfect moment to introduce something a little sweeter, while staying true to what Franco does best, which is fresh local breads made with care.”
The loaf was developed to address limited availability in the local market for a fresh, locally baked cinnamon swirl bread made without preservatives.
The bakery focused on balance, aiming for warmth and comfort rather than dessert-level sweetness. The bread can be served toasted with butter or used for French toast.
“Our goal was balance,” said Colin Smith, owner-chef at Franco Baking Company and Roundabout Catering Group. “We used quality ingredients, including delicious cinnamon chips, and paid close attention to the texture so it toasts beautifully. You get that comforting cinnamon flavor, but it never feels too rich. It is indulgent, approachable, and something you can enjoy more than just on a holiday morning.”
While Franco is known for sourdough and traditional breads, the cinnamon swirl French toast loaf reflects an expanded focus on sweet breads. The company said the product will launch first in Northern Nevada, with plans to expand into additional markets as demand grows.
Franco Baking Company has operated in Northern Nevada for more than 50 years, baking in Sparks and supplying local retailers.
The bakery was acquired by MaryBeth and Colin Smith in 2023. The couple has owned and operated food and beverage businesses in the Reno Sparks area since 2007.
The cinnamon swirl French toast bread will be available at participating northern Nevada Raley’s locations. More information is available on the Franco Baking Company website.
