Kirkwood Mountain Resort has received its first snowfall of the season, offering an early glimpse of winter as crews prepare for the upcoming ski season.
The overnight snowfall left a light dusting across the mountain, stretching from the base area to the top of Thimble Peak.
Resort teams are continuing preseason work ahead of opening day, including preparing snowmaking equipment, maintaining lifts, and completing other projects around the mountain.
Kirkwood is targeting Friday, Dec. 4, to open for the winter season, weather and conditions permitting.
In the meantime, guests can purchase a 2026-27 Epic Pass, which provides access to Kirkwood, Northstar California, Heavenly Ski Resort, and other mountain destinations.
