The Washoe County Sheriff's Office participated in a collaborative effort with the Reno Police Department, the City of Reno, the Downtown Reno Partnership and other community partners to create what they call "a safe and welcoming environment" over the course of the 2026 USBC Open Championships at the National Bowling Stadium.
In a post on Facebook, WSCO says they're proud of the enforcement and outreach efforts demonstrated by deputies and the H.O.P.E Team throughout the 4th Street corridor.
They released the following statistics:
- Stopped 333 subjects
- Made 42 felony arrests
- Made 62 warrant arrests
- Issued 43 citations
- Arrested 36 individuals for possession of controlled substances
- Made 6 DUI arrests
"I couldn't be more proud of the work our deputies continue to do every day to keep our community safe," said Sheriff Darin Balaam. "Their professionalism, proactive enforcement, and visible presence throughout the 4th Street Corridor made a measurable difference during the USBC Open Championships. The positive feedback received from visitors, businesses, and event partners is a direct reflection of the outstanding work our deputies put in every day. Their efforts helped provide the safe and secure environment that allows an event with a tremendous economic impact to continue thriving in our community."
