The public is invited to learn more about flood preparedness at a workshop in Lyon County on Thursday evening.

As part of Nevada Flood Awareness Week, Lyon County Emergency Management and Community Development Departments are hosting a flood preparedness workshop at Dayton Community Center, 170 Pike Street at 5:30 p.m.

Community members will have an opportunity to meet with local emergency managers, floodplain managers and community partners — including NV Energy, the National Weather Service, Carson Water Subconservancy District, and representatives from Storey County.

The workshop will provide valuable information on personal preparedness, local flood risk and inundation areas, and flood modeling in Lyon County.
