A man has died after two cars overturned in an early morning crash on US-50 near Lyon County mile marker 25, a stretch of highway between Silver Springs and Stagecoach.

The Nevada Highway Patrol said the crash happened around 3 a.m. on November 1.

According to the preliminary investigation, a 2016 Ford Focus hatchback was heading east in the right lane when it approached a 2023 Chevrolet Traverse ahead of it in the same lane.

The Ford allegedly failed to slow down and crashed into the rear of the Chevrolet, causing both cars to overturn.

The driver of the Chevrolet, 70-year-old Jeffrey De Dual, from Fallon, was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. He died on November 8.

The Nevada Highway Patrol Major Incident Reconstruction Team is investigating the crash.
