A man has been convicted of residential burglary after breaking a sliding glass door and stealing two gaming systems and equipment from a victim's home.
Kevin Castillo faces a maximum of 10 years in prison after a jury found him guilty, according to a release from the Washoe County District Attorney's Office.
Castillo knew the victim through a mutual friend and had hung out together at the victim’s home, playing video games.Â
In April of 2024, Castillo knew the victim was not going to be home and broke into the house by smashing the sliding door with a hammer.
Three days after the break-in, he pawned the gaming equipment at a local shop, using his identification.
At trial, it was shown that a fingerprint lifted from the hammer matched Castillo.
Sentencing is set for July 30.
