As communities in northern Nevada continue to grow, so does the need for public transportation.

That is when "My Ride to Work" steps in.

It's a charter transportation service that has been around for about ten years and is looking to expand and make their services more convenient for riders.

While the organization is partnered with many businesses in Reno, they are continuing to partner with many more businesses outside of the Biggest Little City and cover all of northern Nevada.

They have also recently started the "My Ride Foundation."

"The 'My Ride Foundation' is really a foundation that we put together to provide transportation to different schools, nonprofits in town that otherwise wouldn't be able to afford the transportation in town," said Geoffrey Donahue, Co-Owner/President of "My Ride to Work."

"My Ride to Work" partners with local businesses in northern Nevada to help provide free transportation for employees going to and from work.

"So we are from Reno, Sparks, to Lovelock, Winnemucca, to Elko. We service a lot of the mining community as well and really have a footprint all across Nevada," said Donahue.

He says they have grown a lot since they first started with a van a decade ago.

"So we started with a van, a van share, a van pool going to and from an old facility that's no longer around at USA Parkway," he said.

Donahue says once the facility realized their employees were struggling getting to work, that's when they partnered with "My Ride to Work."

As they continued to drive their employees, this helped both businesses grow and flourish in the community.

Now Donahue says that they are able to service areas that other forms of public transportation are not able to.

"There is great RTC buses to ride here, but we have 56-passenger luxury coach buses that are taking them to and from work, so you have Wi-Fi on board, you have outlets on board, and it's really just a great avenue when it gets some rest as they're going to and from their work day," he said.

"My Ride to Work" continues to partner with businesses such as the Reno Aces baseball team and the University's sports teams including football and volleyball.

We spoke with a Tesla employee who described her experience riding on the buses.

"The transportation is very easy, it's very nice," said Gabriela Turnbaugh. "I'm pleased with the company. All I got to say is I'm very pleased with the company. I'm very happy."

As they continue to expand, Donahue says they are looking for more drivers at their job fair this Thursday.

It will be at their facility from noon to 2 p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m.
