A Red Flag Warning is in effect for the Sierra Front and the western Nevada Basin and Range for Friday, November 22.
The Southern Front includes northern Mono, southern Lyon, western Mineral, and Churchill counties.
The warning for extreme gusty winds and low humidity will be in effect from now until 7 p.m. on Friday
High winds are expected with gusts up to 80 miles per hour. Areas that are more wind-prone may experience gusts at higher speeds.
Humidity levels in the area are predicted to be between 12-18%.
Officials are asking people to use extreme caution with any potential ignition source and to avoid any outdoor activities that can cause a spark near dry vegetation - such as yard work, target shooting, campfires, and or any activity that can spark a fire.
