Nevada REALTORS will provide about 120 lunches Thursday for people displaced by the Hawk Fire, along with individually packaged snacks and beverages.
The meals will be distributed beginning at 11:30 a.m. at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center, Hall 4, located at 4590 S. Virginia St., at the mutual aid resource center and temporary shelter established for people and families displaced by the fire, in partnership with the American Red Cross.
The meals are first come, first served and are primarily intended for people who have been evacuated and first responders. No proof of residence is required.
“When Nevadans are hurting, we believe in stepping up and helping our neighbors,” said Tiffany Banks, CEO of Nevada REALTORS. “Families affected by the Hawk Fire are facing tremendous uncertainty, and some have lost their homes. While a meal cannot replace what they’ve lost, we hope it provides some comfort and lets them know their fellow Nevadans are standing with them during this difficult time. We’re grateful to the American Red Cross and local first responders for helping us turn our concern into immediate assistance.”
Nevada REALTORS had originally planned to hold a housing forum in Northern Nevada. The recent large wildfires shifted the association’s efforts toward providing immediate assistance to people affected by the disaster.
