The North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District may conduct pile burns during the week of October 19, weather and fuel conditions permitting.
The controlled burns are expected to continue through the winter, with operations taking place only when weather, moisture, humidity and fuel conditions are favorable.
Residents and visitors may see smoke in the area during the burns. NLTFPD will share planned burn locations on social media and through its Prescribed Fire Notification and Smoke-Sensitive email groups.
The district asks people not to call 911 to report smoke from announced burns.
