Northern Nevada Public Health is reporting the first flu-related death in Washoe County for the 2026-27 respiratory illness season.
The person was a man in his 80s who was hospitalized and had underlying health conditions, according to NNPH.
During the previous respiratory illness season, the county reported its first flu-related death in January. A total of 27 flu-related deaths were reported during the 2025-26 season.
