More details are emerging about what led to the arrest of a suspect in an attempted murder in Reno in July.

27-year-old Christian Esparza Gutierrez is accused in a July shooting that left someone seriously hurt.

On the early morning of July 20, a shooting at Ferrari Farms started investigators on a months-long investigation

Probable cause documents say there was a small party at Ferrari Farms, where one woman was renting out the space.

That was, until a nearby car meet came and broke the lock on the gate to join the party. The woman said she didn't know who most of those who joined the party were.

Detectives had access to all cameras on the property.

After looking through surveillance footage, Regional Gang Unit officers say they saw the suspect pull out a gun and fire a single bullet into the victim's lower back.

The victim was taken to Renown by family members, suffering life-threatening injuries.

After multiple surgeries, he pulled through. Officers want to protect his identity for safety reasons.

After the victim's injuries healed and he was able to speak, officers interviewed him, but he didn't have much memory of the night.

Officers were able to identify a lot of people and get information verified from another woman at the party, though.

On September 5, Esparza Gutierrez was booked into the Washoe County Jail on unrelated charges of reckless driving and driving a stolen vehicle.

Police followed him and made a felony traffic stop as he was a suspect in a few violent crimes.

Regional Gang Unit officers were able to tack on additional charges after allegedly identifying him at the party through camera footage and matching his car, which was also seen at the party.

He is now also being charged with attempted murder and battery with a deadly weapon.
