A puppy who suffered a broken leg from abuse by its owner has been removed from that owner's custody, while the owner had to pay restitution and fines for their actions.
Washoe County Regional Animal Services got an animal welfare call recently about a puppy named Diesel, who was taken to a veterinary clinic with a twisted and badly broken leg.
Diesel's owner admitted to throwing the puppy against a wall because the dog was damaging a couch, according to a post from Animal Services on Facebook.
Diesel was impounded by Animal Services while an animal cruelty investigation was conducted.
Animal Services cared for Diesel for three months while the case went through the courts, with Options Veterinary Care providing assistance.
The owner was ultimately found guilty of animal cruelty, having to pay $430 in restitution and a fine of $640.
Animal Services took over ownership of Diesel, who was renamed Vinny, and the dog was transferred out of Nevada and adopted into a new home.
