The Reno City Council named Jackie Bryant its newest city manager during a public meeting on Wednesday.

Bryant previously served as interim manager after Doug Thornley left and also served as assistant city manager.

"I am extraordinarily humbled, I'm excited, I'm looking forward to getting back to the work and really serving this council our staff and our community with the things we need to do."

Bryant began her career in regulatory law and she also was Deputy Chief of Staff for former Governor Brian Sandoval.

"We are excited and fortunate to have Jackie Bryant serving as our City Manager," said Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve. "When we began the search process months ago, Council was very clear about what qualities we wanted to see in our next City Manager. We wanted an experienced leader with a passion for our local community.  Someone who is approachable, trustworthy, and solution oriented, and that is Jackie Bryant." Â
