A man was arrested Sunday morning after allegedly fleeing police following a fight with another person in which a gunshot was fired.

It happened around 12:10 a.m. on September 20 in the area of West 2nd Street and West Street, according to a release from the Reno Police Department.

Officers arrived on scene and found a man matching the suspect's description running through the alley behind 219 West Second Street toward West Commercial Row.

They tried to take the suspect, later identified as 25-year-old Damon Brown, into custody, but he fled.

Officers used a Raser on Brown and safely apprehended him.

During the arrest, officers found a Glock handgun.

Further investigation involving the K9 unit found a fired cartridge casing beneath a parked vehicle.

Brown faces multiple charges, listed below.

  • Discharging a firearm in a public place

  • Obstructing and resisting a public officer with a deadly weapon

  • Ex-felon in possession of a firearm

  • Carrying a concealed firearm without a permit
