Four separate sexual assault investigations in downtown Reno have led to the arrest of a man, with investigators connecting the cases through similarities in the reported circumstances.
Reno Police said 35-year-old Richard Riley Jr. was arrested after investigators used citywide camera footage and investigative technology to identify and locate him in connection with the alleged assaults.
The investigation involved patrol officers, detectives, the Regional Crime Suppression Unit and the Real Time Intelligence Center. After conducting surveillance, officers stopped a vehicle and took Riley into custody.
Detectives later interviewed Riley about all four incidents. Information gathered during the interviews supported charges in each case, along with four counts of battery with intent to commit sexual assault.
Reno Police said the cases involved four separate, unrelated victims. Similarities in the reported circumstances and the suspect's alleged methods helped investigators identify patterns and connect the cases to the same suspect.
