Officers with the Reno Police Department (RPD) responded to a report earlier of an incident regarding potential animal abuse.
According to a sergeant with the RPD, around 3:15 p.m. Sunday afternoon, multiple units responded to an alleyway near the intersection of Ryland Street and Holcomb Ave as a group of neighbors allegedly approached a man over how he was handling his dog.
The sergeant says that exactly what happened next isn't completely clear, but the man with the dog was apparently struck with something in the stomach, and he ended up being treated for a minor injury.
Reno Police worked with Regional Animal Control to look into accusations of potential animal abuse, and an investigation is still ongoing.
