A 72-year-old driver is dead after a truck rollover crash on SR 305 north of Austin earlier this week.

The crash happened near Lander County mile marker 24, about 24 miles north of Austin, just after 2 p.m. on Monday.

Nevada Highway Patrol says the driver was heading south on SR 305 in a Toyota Tundra when it went off the road and onto the right dirt shoulder. The driver overcorrected to the left, crossing the center line, and then again to the right, which brought the Toyota through the northbound lane back to the right shoulder. The truck then overturned and came to rest on its side.

NHP says the driver, Michael McCormack of Moab, Utah died on scene - he was not wearing a seatbelt.

The investigation remains ongoing by the Nevada Highway Patrol, Major Incident Reconstruction Team (MIRT). If you were a witness to this incident, or have any information regarding the crash, contact the NHP Elko Office at (775) 753-1111 or e-mail ncemirt@dps.state.nv.us.
