Sparks Police say a robbery suspect who got away after allegedly assaulting an employee at a local business has been arrested.
On Friday, just after 11:30 a.m., officers were called to Oddie Boulevard on a report of a robbery.
Once on scene, officers learned that a suspect had entered a local store, concealed multiple items and left without paying.
Store employees and customers confronted the suspect outside of the store. That's when police say he hit an employee, causing minor injuries.
The suspect then ran away from the area.
Using store surveillance footage, officers were able to develop a person of interest, who was identified as Marco Collier Jr.
Two days later, Sparks dispatch received a suspicious person call in the area of Wedekind Regional Park.
Officers utilized a drone to respond and locate the suspicious person.
Based on initial drone footage, officers determined the person at the park was likely Marco Collier Jr.
Officers arrived to the scene and were able to determine that there was probable cause for his arrest in connection with Friday's robbery.
Collier was taken into custody and booked on the following charges:
- Robbery (felony)
- Petit Larceny (misdemeanor)
