As the weather gets warmer, more motorcycle riders will be on the roads.

Instructors say it is important for riders to be extremely cautious of their surroundings and prepare properly before getting on the road.

"Biggest aspects of safety are know your gear first of all that you're riding, some bikers call it your kit. Make sure you have the proper gear on. It's nice to wear high visibility clothing so that motorists can see you, and make sure that your motorcycle is operating correctly," said Carl Ensor, riding academy manager for Reno Harley Davidson.

Motorcycles are narrow and can easily be lost in someone's blind spot.

It is important for both drivers and motorcycle riders to give each other plenty of room to operate.

Reno Harley Davidson also offers a three day in person course every weekend with certified instructors.

Riders will be able to learn information, take quizzes through a set curriculum, and spend time on a motorcycle with the instructors help.
