You can help stamp out hunger this weekend placing food donations in your mailbox.

The annual food drive is hosted by the National Association of Letter Carriers, and Stamp Out Hunger is the largest single-day food drive in the country.

Northern Nevada residents can help the Food Bank of Northern Nevada by collecting non-perishable, non-expired food items and leaving them in a sturdy bag near their mailboxes on Saturday, May 10.

No glass jars.

Although all non-perishable items are accepted, some suggestions include:

* Entrées (Soups, Chili’s, etc.)

* Protein (Tuna, Chicken, Beans)

* Canned fruit (Packed in water or juice preferred)

* Canned vegetables (Low sodium preferred)

Last year, the Food Bank of Northern Nevada collected more than 100,000 pounds of food during the one-day food drive.Â
