A marked fire truck stolen from a fuels management project site near Lockwood has been recovered in Golden Valley, according to the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office.
Truckee Meadows Fire & Rescue reported the truck was taken Monday morning from a location east of Sparks.
Nevada State Police said a pursuit began around 11 a.m. on Monday, after the truck left the site.
The driver traveled north on Highway 395 toward Cold Springs, then turned south on the highway.
The chase was later called off near Lemmon Valley due to safety concerns.
Around 2 p.m. on Monday a Golden Valley area resident contacted authorities reporting a suspicious vehicle in their driveway.
Deputies from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office responded and confirmed the vehicle to be the TMFPD truck.
TMFPD was notified and subsequently recovered the vehicle. The incident remains under active investigation.
No arrests have been made.
