The Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District is reminding residents in unincorporated Washoe County about existing waste disposal options available through Waste Management during spring cleanup.
According to TMFPD in an online post, "Spring is the perfect time to clean up and reduce fire risk in our community."
During May and again in November, Unincorporated Washoe County Waste Management customers may place up to six extra bags of garbage out for collection on their service day, helping with seasonal cleanup and disposal of combustible materials, including dead vegetation.
According to a Waste Management website flyer, during May and November, customers may place an additional six bags, boxes, or bundles, not to exceed 3’ x 3’ x 3’ or 50 pounds, outside their container for collection on their service day without using an excess waste sticker.
Officials noted the allowance is part of regular service guidelines and is available for seasonal cleanup efforts across the area.
