The University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) is helping to equip students with the tools they need to become future leaders of national security.
Teaming with the National Security Forum of Nevada and the Washoe County School District, the Youth Security Forum was held at the Joe Crowley Student Union on the campus of UNR.
The event, titled "Telling Truth From Lies," happened Tuesday morning and brought around 400 students in from local high schools to learn and jump into conversations regarding AI deepfakes and misinformation.
The event showcased speakers Rex and Caleb Briggs, authors who are experts on AI and misinformation, and our very own 2 News Nevada anchor Arianna Bennett who provided tools for debunking fake news stories in journalism.
Reynolds School of Journalism professor Patrick File provided a keynote, speaking about the government's responsibility to respond to the spread of misinformation.
