UNR Education Dean Dr. Donald Easton-Brooks has been placed on administrative leave after a no-confidence vote last month.

Dr. Jannet Vreeland will serve as acting dean for the College of Education and Human Development during this period.

Dr. Vreeland previously served as part of the University administration as vice provost of faculty affairs, secretary of the University, and interim provost.

Last month the faculty at the College independently voted no-confidence in Dr. Easton-Brooks' role as Dean.

UNR Associate Professor Ethan Ris says that school bylaws state that deans must be evaluated by upper administration every five years, at minimum.

"Dr. Easton-Brooks is currently at the end of his seventh year as Dean, and to our knowledge he has never been evaluated. Furthermore, the bylaws clearly state that these reviews must include consultation with the College's faculty. In nearly seven years, no one ever asked the faculty what they thought about the Dean's leadership."
