Update (4/15/2025, 2:17 p.m.):

More information about the break-in has been provided by the Reno Police Department.

According to officials, several calls came in around 5:45 a.m. reporting suspicious activity at the shopping center.

Officers arrived at the scene and say they saw an individual jump into the rafters of the building.

Law enforcement personnel immediately set up a perimeter and began a search with officers, negotiators and SWAT teams from both the Reno Police Department and Washoe County Sheriff's Office.

After about 9 hours of searching, the suspect was found on the roof above the laundromat in the strip mall.

Once he was arrested, the suspect said that he had taken drugs.

The suspect is being charged with one count of burglary, and potentially more charges later.

Law enforcement officials said they will be taking additional time in the area to conduct an investigation.

Original story:

A significant police and SWAT presence descended on a strip mall near Kietzke Lane and Peckham Lane Tuesday morning, as officers investigated a possible break-in.

Reno police say they are actively searching the outdoor strip mall after reports of a possible break-in inside one of the businesses.

As a precaution, businesses from the Golf Mart on the south end to the laundromat on the north end have been closed for the foreseeable future while the investigation continues.

Authorities have not confirmed if anyone is inside the business, but officers remain on the scene conducting a thorough search.

This is a developing story. More information will be shared as it becomes available.
