Update, April 12:

The Sparks Police Department says one person was arrested after a crash involving a motorcycle and a truck.

Police say the motorcyclist had been speeding on northbound on Rock Boulevard in the wrong travel lane and when they tried to stop the motorcyclist, they made a quick U-turn and continued to run a red light.

At that point, the motorcyclist hit the passenger side of a truck that was heading eastbound on Prater Way.

REMSA and the Sparks Fire Department also responded and the driver of the motorcycle was taken to Renown Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the motorcycle, 46-year-old Kelly Hitt of Sun Valley, was later released from the hospital and arrested by the Sparks Police Department on the following charges:

  • Driver Disobey Peace Officer, Damage Property
  • Fail to Drive on Right Half of Road
  • Operating a vehicle with No Proof of Insurance
  • Operating an Unregistered Vehicle
  • Driving with a Revoked Driver’s License
  • Failure to Obey Red Traffic Light

Sparks Police have reported a traffic crash located at the intersection of Prater Way and Rock Boulevard.

The accident was reported around 6:20 p.m. tonight.

Personnel from both Sparks Police and Sparks Fire are working the crash, which has caused a closure of the intersection while the crash is cleared.

Officials are asking drivers to please avoid the area.
