Update (4/14/2025, 3:00 p.m.):
The Nevada State Police have provided more details about the fatal crash that happened Saturday, April 12 on I-580.
According to officials, around 7:00 a.m. a silver SUV, a box truck and three other vehicles were travelling southbound on I-580 in the same lane near the Virginia/Kietzke exit.
The SUV slowed down, and the box truck did not - which resulted in the box truck crashing into the left rear of the SUV. The reason for the slowdown is currently unknown.
The SUV, which contained seven passengers, then rolled as a result of the crash, ejecting two juveniles from the vehicle who were not wearing seatbelts.
The two ejected teens were transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
An adult in one of the back seats, identified as 62-year old Lorraine Chavez, died in the crash.
The Nevada Highway Patrol Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating the crash.

Nevada State Police are investigating a fatal crash on I-580 southbound at the Moana Lane exit.
It was first reported just before 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 12.
