During the Washoe County Board of County Commissioners meeting on Tuesday the board voted to approve code amendments to the Tahoe Area Plan.

The plan was adopted in 2021 and serves as a master plan for the Incline Village area.

In 2023 the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency adopted phase 2 housing amendments to support deed-restricted affordable, moderate, and achievable multi-family developments.

The number of units that can be built is not changed; these amendments address the type of units that can be built to address the lack of affordable housing in the Tahoe Basin.

The code amendments approved are mandated by TRPA, and TRPA gave Washoe County additional time past its December 2024 deadline to adjust the amendments to align with residents' concerns.

During public comment many community members came forth opposing the code amendments, but due to the TRPA's jurisdiction a no vote would do nothing to stop the changes.
