The Washoe County School District Board of Trustees is accepting applications for the District C seat vacated by former Trustee Joe Rodriguez.Â
He was elected to serve on the Sparks City Council on November 5. Under Nevada Revised Statute 281.055, people may not serve in two elective offices at one time, and Rodriguez resigned from the District C seat immediately after the election.
Prospective applicants must live in District C, which covers 20 schools in Spanish Springs and the North Valleys.Â
Applicants are required to submit a letter of intent and a resumé or Curriculum Vitae and include answers to the following questions:
* Why are you interested in serving on the WCSD Board of Trustees?
* What experience, interests, training, or other skills do you feel you would bring to the WCSD board of Trustees?
* How will you engage with students, staff, families, and the community in this role?
* What is the role of a WCSD Trustee?
Applications may be submitted by email to jbatchelder@washoeschools.net or by mail at WCSD Board Services Department, P.O. Box 30425, Reno, NV 89520-3425. They can also be hand delivered to 425 East 9th Street, Reno, NV 89512.
Applications must be received by the WCSD no later than 4:30 p.m. on Friday, December 20, 2024 to be considered.
The Board of Trustees may conduct a public review of the applications at a special meeting on January 7, 2025Â if more than five complete applications are received.Â
Trustees have scheduled a public meeting for Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at 9 a.m. in the Board Meeting Room at 425 E. Ninth Street in Reno, where they will conduct public interviews of the final candidates and are scheduled to vote on their final selection for the District C seat.
