The Washoe County School District (WCSD) has opened the application period for students who would like to attend the Academy of Arts, Careers and Technology (AACT) High School, Debbie Smith CTE Academy (DSCTE), or TMCC High School in the 2027-28 school year.
Through the Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs offered at these WCSD high schools, students gain authentic workplace experiences that bridge classroom learning with real-world application. WCSD has cultivated dozens of strong partnerships with employers and community organizations, establishing hundreds of opportunities for internships, externships, job shadowing, career mentorships, industry tours, and leadership experiences.
AACT is a career and technical education high school which offers career focused pathways in areas such as Aviation, Business, Culinary Arts, Media Production, Criminal Justice, Fire Science, and Medical. Students have opportunities to explore career fields while earning high school credit as well as college credit. AACT has been recognized as Nevada’s top-ranked high school and Northern Nevada’s only Model STEM High School, highlighting its focus on innovation, excellence, and student success. AACT welcomes applications from current 8th graders.
Applications are open from August 24 through October 16 at 5 p.m.
Debbie Smith CTE Academy is a comprehensive high school that combines rigorous academics with career-focused programs. Students may earn industry-recognized certifications and college credit in fields such as Nursing, Biomedical Science, Engineering, Marketing and Multimedia, Welding, Construction, Natural Resources and Animal Sciences, Teaching and Training, and Culinary Arts. The school features state-of-the-art labs that support hands-on learning and skill development, while also providing a full high school experience that includes athletics and a music program. DSCTE welcomes applications from current 8th graders.

TMCC High School offers a unique opportunity for motivated 10th through 12th grade students to earn both a high school diploma and college credits simultaneously, working toward a certificate of achievement or an associate’s degree. Students benefit from small class sizes, flexible scheduling, tuition-free college credits, and access to college resources, labs, and activities. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, a record of good attendance and behavior, and must not be credit deficient. TMCC High School provides opportunities for students who are currently in 9th grade or 10th grade.
