Shooter caught by WCSO drone

Washoe County Sheriff's Office says they continue to respond to calls for service involving people shooting too close to homes on the dirt extension of Chimney Road in Sun Valley.

Following a call from concerned citizen on Friday, a drone was dispatched to the area and found a man actively shooting too close to a congested area.

Pilots provided responding patrol deputies with the suspects real-time location, allowing deputies to safely find the man.

Following an investigation, deputies arrested 33-year-old Daniel Austin on a felony charge of possession of a short-barreled rifle and a misdemeanor charge of unlawful discharge of a firearm.
