Multiple media sources are reporting that horror icon Tony Todd has died.

CNN is reporting that Todd's wife Fatima told The Hollywood Reporter that the actor died following a long illness at his home in Marina Del Rey, California.

Todd's most noteworthy role came in 1992 as the titular character in the movie "Candyman," an adaptation of the Clive Barker short story "The Forbidden."

The classic horror film was concerned with more than scares and mayhem, acting as a commentary on racial iniquity and class struggle in America's inner cities, as well as the nation's history of slavery.

Todd would reprise his role as Candyman three more times following the original film.

He also had a prominent role in the "Final Destination" horror franchise and appeared in movies like "Platoon," "The Crow," and "The Rock."

Prior to his death, he filmed an appearance in the upcoming sequel "Final Destination: Bloodlines" which is set for release in 2025.

He was 69 years old.
