Asian shares are mixed in cautious trading, as investors watch for what might happen on interest rates and the war with Iran pushes oil prices higher. Benchmarks rose early Wednesday in Seoul and Shanghai, but fell in Sydney, Tokyo and Hong Kong. U.S. stocks fell as markets reopened after the Labor Day holiday. The S&P 500 sank 0.6%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 1.2%, and the Nasdaq composite slipped 0.3%. The cost of a barrel of Brent crude has advanced toward $100. That has added to worries about inflation, giving extra heft to a couple of reports on inflation that are coming later this week.
