The Minnesota man who pleaded guilty to killing a top Democratic state lawmaker and her husband is due to be sentenced in federal court. Vance Boelter has confessed in the June 2025 fatal shooting of House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark. The 59-year-old also agreed to plead guilty to attacking Sen. John Hoffman and his wife Yvette. Boelter faces two consecutive life sentences plus 40 years in prison for the attacks that sent waves of fear and panic through Minneapolis last year. Sentencing is scheduled for Thursday.
