Asian stock markets have mostly advanced following stronger-than-expected earnings from chipmaker Nvidia, which helped ease some investor fears over the boom in artificial intelligence. Japan’s Nikkei 225 surpassed the 59,000 level for the first time and South Korea's Kospi extended its rally after it passed the 6,000 mark earlier this week. U.S. futures declined and Nvidia was up only 0.2% in afterhours trading after giving up earlier sharp gains. On Wednesday, the S&P 500 gained 0.8% for a second straight gain. The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 0.6%, and the Nasdaq composite rose 1.3%. Nvidia's results came after markets closed on Wednesday.
