Several major roads in the Reno-Sparks area are being impacted by construction projects. That includes the North Valleys area, West McCarran and I-80, the Spaghetti Bowl, and Pyramid Way.
Some projects are expected to wrap up relatively soon, but others, like improvements in the North Valleys, still have a long way to go.
“In 2023, we launched the first phases of widening improving to 395 in the North Valleys. Just a few weeks ago, we launched the second phase, and the second phase is on schedule to start the widening,” said Meg Ragonese, the Public Information Officer for the Nevada Department of Transportation.
That project will go through 2028.
The current construction happening overnight on the spaghetti bowl is part of a larger bridge maintenance project.
The bowl construction will wrap up at the end of this week, while the entire project will continue through this year and into next.
The project to resurface Pyramid Way will last through the end of 2026, with some minor construction spilling over to 2027.
Drivers who frequent I-80 between McCarran and Keystone should watch out for some updates this week.
“Last month we completed the westbound paving on this section of Interstate 80. And now this week, we are placing the new eastbound paving; in total, that will amount to about 30,000 tons of new paving,” said Ragonese.
That project is wrapping up this summer with some finishing construction to be completed by early 2027.
