On Friday, 33-year-old Nevada Guardsman Sergeant Cameron Estes died after his truck lost control on an icy highway and struck a commercial vehicle.
Estes succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the commercial vehicle was not injured.
The crash happened on US-6, four miles west of Ely, Nevada.
According to a Facebook post by the Nevada National Guard, Estes was driving to the Battle Born Youth Challenge Academy where he worked as a cadre Team Leader at the Nevada National Guard's advancement program serving high school youth in Carlin, Nevada.
Estes is survived by his wife and three daughters in Las Vegas.
The crash is currently being investigated by the Nevada Highway Patrol Northern Command East Mullti-Disciplinary Investigation and Reconstruction team (M.I.R.T).
