The City of Reno is on-track to finish the Moana Springs Community Aquatics and Fitness Center by late August.

It'll be Reno's first new pool in almost 40 years, recreation manager Danny Gleich said on Tuesday.

The project has cost $52 million, but Gleich says that it will allow the city to meet growing demand for aquatics programs, like swim lessons and open swim times.

While the Moana aquatics facility works on finishing touches, here's where families can find open swim opportunities to cool off this summer:

  • Idlewild Park and Traner Pools open on Saturday, June 8 for summer open swim times.
  • Reno's year-round pools, Evelyn Mount Northeast Community Center and Northwest pool have limited open swim hours for families.
  • The city says all of Reno's park splash pads are up and running.
  • Washoe County will open the Bowers Mansion pool for the weekend of Saturday, June 8. The pool will close the following week for final preparations, then it will reopen Saturday, June 15 for the rest of the summer swim season (through Aug. 11).
